Open Question: i have a problem with my play station 2?

my father has bought a playstation 2 from calcutta and also two ps2 games burn out dominator and desert storm 2 the original cd's were cost of each 800 and were running good but i have some cd's pirated which i had bought for 60 and was not working at all so i asked the shop keeper tht it does n't run .... he says that to change the chip of playstation 2 which is worth 1200 with the help of this i would be able to run orignal and pirated also but if i change my chip will it spoil my ps2 or not so what to do i have to change my chip or what shold i do?? pls help me...
